Bart Hendrickx Bio

Orthopaedic veterinary surgeon

Bart Hendrickx

Bart qualified in 1994 from the University of Ghent, Belgium, achieving a long held dream to be a veterinary surgeon.

After small animal roles around the UK and locum work in France, Holland and Belgium Bart settled in the Midlands to pursue his love of surgery. He moved to the animal charity PDSA to increase his surgical caseload, and he passed the Royal College Veterinary Surgeon Certificate in Small Animal Surgery in 2003. From there, he spent several years in large small animal practices taking responsibility for surgical cases and he eventually settled in Derbyshire. In 2020 he joined a fantastic team at West Midlands Referrals, fulfilling a lifelong ambition to focus on orthopaedic surgery and became part of the mobile team travelling to practices to perform surgery in-house. This gave him the experience and confidence to get started on his own. Which brings us up to date!

In his spare time Bart gets cajoled into joining his two boys in various activities like scout camp, kayaking and climbing, and he has been known to run the line at his son’s football matches… without apparently being fully aware with the current offside rule! He is also a resident vet to a very springy Springer Spaniel, a flock of chickens and three pet sheep.

Vet and Owner Reviews

Bart , Sarah and Aimee are the ones I met when I had to take my 12 year old Westhighland White Terrier had to have cruciate surgery. Bart and his team are the most likeable professionals I ever had the pleasure to meet. From booking Tessa in with Sarah, Bart doing the surgery and Aimee signing her off as all fixed the whole experience was a breeze. Honestly so well organised and what a wonderful building and setup they have. I would 1000% recommend these guys to ANYONE
